Hey guys Oppo Reno 7 Pro 5G is not only the world’s first smartphone to house the new MediaTek dimension 1200 max CPU and Sony iMac 709 selfie camera sensor but the industry’s first smartphone to make use of digital overlap HDR in its selfie and main cameras laser direct imaging within its backplate and a 3D circular breathing orbit light wrapping around its back camera module this is actually the global version of the device that launched a few months back and has finally made its way to the global market. we are treated to a silicon case a type a type c charging cable and a 65-watt super VOOC charger. the device comes in two main color variants you can pick it up in starlight black or the version that known as star trails blue it looks absolutely phenomenal from all different angles and that is because its back plate uses a new ALDI technology which is actually an industry first and etches 20 micron sized fine textures which gather up 1.2 million micro rosters etched together and on top of that we have oppo’s signature glow which uses micro crystals to give it a shimmery and gradient color finish once you pop the device on charge you are welcomed to an orbit breathing light which is by the way another industry first which wraps around the camera module at the back and is used when receiving a call and notification or during charging hence why I currently have the phone plugged in and we also have a new coated ceramic trim over that camera module which is actually a first for oppo the device looks absolutely fantastic and shifts color depending on the light that is hitting it and inside the phone we have a large 4500 milliamp hour battery with 65 watt super VOOC wire technology we also get a MediaTek max CPU which is actually the world’s first lpddr4x ram and ufs 3.1 storage the display is protected by gorilla glass 5 we have an aluminum frame wrapping around the phone and the back is protected by panda glass within that glowing camera module sits in 8 megapixel ultrawide sensor 2 megapixel macro sensor and a 50 megapixel Imax 766 main sensor it is also the industry’s first smartphone to use a digital overlap high dynamic range the 8 megapixel ultrawide sensor doesn’t take a half bat shot we can also take 108 megapixel sensor using upscaling within the main camera drop that down to 50 megapixel native or even more down to 12.5 megapixel when burned we can also use the 50 megapixel sensor to do two times digital zoom and pin it down once again to two times digital zoom two we can do 50 megapixel or five times digital zoom bend it down once again to 12.5 or five times digital zoom that’s where it ends bending down for the rest of them being 10 times and 20 times is the max zoom which doesn’t do a bad job either getting up close and personal to a subject is great thanks to that new 2 megapixel macro sensor and when taking a portrait shot using the bokeh portrait but an awesome thing is the bokeh flair portrait which I can’t really see much of a difference over here you can see more of a difference however when taking a video but the bokeh flair portrait video mode is kept at 1080p and 30fps it doesn’t look too bad the edge detection is not the best I have seen around it does give it a nice effect and you can use regular bokeh with 25 different aperture modes which is pretty decent we have 4k at 30fps though the highest fps that we can do at 4k is 30fps so bear that in mind but this is a mid-range phone and the video looks pretty sharp if you ask me we do have 1080p at 60fps many mid-range devices actually capped 1080p at 30 so it’s nice and smooth like that we also have a highlight video which is kept at 30fps and full hd that being 1080p it doesn’t look too bad it pretty much brings out and pops out more colors but unfortunately dumbs down the detail 1080p 30fps is the max resolution and fps when recording with the ultrawide which does an okay job I guess you can say during the day not so much at night I wouldn’t recommend recording ultrawide at night using this device but we do have 1080p 60 fps recording at night which doesn’t look too bad things are pretty dim but the detail is still packed in there and if you are wondering if you can brighten things up yes we do have AI highlight video which you can see on the right hand side which truly does brighten up the video we have 4k 30fps over here which looks nice and bright thanks to the low frame rate being at 30 frames per second
We do have poker video once again recording at night it doesn’t look amazing but the flare portrait mode looks pretty great look at all those blurred lights in the background which also shift over to the photos and regular portrait photo at night doesn’t look too bad either night mode off with the ultra-wide sensor looks okay night mode on kind of controls the lighting situation a bit better same thing can be said with the main but it does a much better effect when turning on night mode which is good to see I mean it’s always good to see improvements when it comes to night mode we can do two times digital zoom with night mode on as well as five times and night mode enabled with a higher zoom does brighten up the shot but it lacks a lot of detail ten times zoom is the highest zoom that we can do when enabling night mode twenty times zoom does not have a night mode option and it looks okay the back cameras is a bit of a mixed bag but overall it’s actually more than decent for a phone at this price range on the right side of the device we are treated to a power button which actually has a bit of an indentation a split volume rocker on the left hand side always good to see and we have a dual sim 5g standby unfortunately no expandable storage we have usb 2.0 type c port at the bottom and beside that is a dual stereo speaker which is paired with the earpiece at the top to get that dual sounding just right and of course we have another world first thanks to the selfie camera utilizing the brand new 32 megapixel Sony iMac 709 sensor which is actually a red green blue white sensor as opposed to the standard red green blue sensor and yes the new selfie camera also utilizes digital overlap HDR when taking photos with the selfie there is actually a wider angle mode and you can use that with the bokeh portrait as well as bokeh flare portrait all of them come out absolutely fantastic with almost perfect edge detection regular selfie over here not using the wider mode also looks pretty dam good but what about recording a selfie video on the brand new oppo reno 7 pro 5g the global version that is and selfie recording is unfortunately capped at 1080p and 30 fps but we do have an AI highlight video mode this time around it’s currently off we are going to flick to it on right now and here’s AI highlight video on let me know if you guys can see any difference also let me know what you think about the general video and audio quality when recording using the selfie-cam on the reno 7 pro 5g we can also use AR highlight video using that wider angle frame over here it looks pretty fantastic if you ask me and selfie with bokeh effect looks okay the edge detection is far from perfect same thing can be said with the bokeh flair mode it looks alright and the background is not too naturally blurred at night bokeh flair looks good in terms of the background and all the lights popping but the foreground doesn’t look the best same thing can be said with the regular bokeh but AR highlight video mode on looks a lot brighter than AI highlight video off but once again lacks quite a bit of detail we can also use ai highlight video with the wider angle mode as well as the main mode too but unfortunately still capped at 1080p 30fps selfies at night using the regular mode not the wider mode look alright night mode on brightens things up but once again dims down the detail same thing can be said with bokeh portrait though the bokeh portrait and flare portrait cannot use night mode with the wider angle night mode off actually looks better than the narrower angle night mode on kind of does the same effect with dropping down detail but brightening up the shots and once again bokeh modes within the wider angle too detection so I guess the selfies are a bit of a mixed bag too on this device but that new sensor definitely has some potential powering on the device over here we are welcomed to an under display fingerprint sensor is of course optical and once in the phone we are treated to an always on display which yes can be used throughout the whole day not just when you tap the device we have a bunch of different always on display options such as kaleidoscope which you can make yourself which is awesome as well as portrait silhouettes which you can take a photo of yourself and then it can mask you and trace you and pop you on always on display as well as omoji which is pretty new here similar to other selfie emojis that we’ve seen around.
It does a great job but this time you can actually use it within your always on display which looks pretty good I am not sure I did use it too often and we do have 2d face unlock here we also have a 6.55 inch amoled display this time around it is flat and not curved it is still full hd plus with a ppi 402 it is HDR 10 plus and amazon prime HDR certified and it has a max brightness of 920 nits it also packs in a 90 hertz refresh rate which is unfortunately not adaptive and we do have 180 hertz touch sampling rate though that can go all the way up to a thousand hertz but only in some games the software on the device is of course oppo’s new color os 12 though it is skinned over android 11 and not android 12. it still does a great job in terms of loads of different features also keeping things nice and simplistic as well as 3D icons making it easy for you to look around the phone we do have personalization’s over here where you can customize those icons to pretty much however your heart desires and we can change the quick settings menu shapes as well as different colors on the device and here is the breathing light options it’s really unfortunate that you can’t use that breathing light unless it’s being charged or you get a notification or call we also have things such as pop-up windows and we do have google discover on the left-hand side as well as google assistant we are paired with 12 gigs of lpddr4x ram which can bump up to 19 gigs thanks to ram expansion and we do have the new 6 nanometer dimension 1200 max octa-core CPU which supposedly has 22 percent faster processing and is 25 percent more power efficient and when enabling oppo’s high performance mode and pairing it with a benchmark such as AnTuTu version 9 yields a score of 670 395 points which puts it slightly below more expensive snapdragon chipsets but while above other dimension sets and of course we can also game on the device testing out bullet force over here we do have a game overlay which you can pull in from a tab on the left hand side which gives us options such as game mode AI frame stabilizer and yes there is a frames per second which is awesome you don’t really see this on phones other than gaming phones the performance is decent it sits at a pretty stable 60fps but this device actually has a 90 hertz refresh rate panel so it should be hitting 90 since this game has an unlimited frames per second cap but what about those dual stereo speakers let’s go ahead and give the oppo reno 7 pro 5g has certainly changed my outlook on oppo’s reno series devices thanks to its new Imax 709 selfie camera which takes more than decent photos at this price range but unfortunately caps video at 1080p or 30fps the selfie sensor is punched into the new flat edged 90hz 6.55 inch amoled display that boasts accurate colours and very high brightness levels I quite like the new design of the phone and the all new laser direct imaging and oppo glow technology within its back plates give the device a design like nothing I have ever seen before the orbit breathing light wrapping around its camera module is a nice touch but has limited use probably due to battery efficiency which actually shouldn’t be a 4500 mah battery cell which can be topped up in just 31 minutes when using the included 65 watt charger and let’s not forget about its more than capable rear camera setup which takes mid-range leading photos and videos and even makes use of digital overlap HDR not to mention the phone packs in a custom made well performing dimension 1200 max chipset making the Oppo Reno 7 pro 5g one of the most stylish premium mid-range smartphone. Well, I hope you found the information valuable so please share your thoughts in the comment section below.
